Currently Non Collectible, or Status 53, is when a taxpayer cannot pay his tax debtbecause he does not have sufficient money to do so. A tax attorney can be used to advise on how a taxpayer can have IRS collections temporarily stopped through acquiring a Currently Non Collectible (“CNC”) .
